Tuning is an important aspect of creating your music and making it sound better and more refined. Musicians need to edit and tune their music and vocals in order to get the best result out of their music. This is a common practice among the music industry as there really is no alternative to getting the perfect pitch and vocals for music.
An Overlook of MAutoPitch Plugin
MAutoPitch is a free to download, auto-tuning software with a surprisingly wide range of features and editing tools. It gives you a very clean, easy-to-use interface through which you will interact with the tools to tune the audio to your preference. All the tools provided are intuitive to use and aren’t complicated at all.
Needless to say, it is fantastic software for beginners who are looking to get into tuning their music and not sure as to what they should start with. It provides beginner-friendly tools by which anyone can tune their audio with just a little amount of practice.
Even though this software features a lot of tools to auto-tune, it is not, however, a professional tuner as it is more aimed towards people who are starting to learn and those who need the minimum amount of tuning in their music.
A Comprehensive Guide to Using MAutoPitch
MAutoPitch is mainly an Auto-Tuning plugin. On the software, you will see there are 2 types of tuning you can do with it. So, let’s explain what exactly they do.
On the side of the option, you will see a question mark “?”, which explains what this section of tuning does. This makes the software easier for beginners who don’t know what they are doing and can read out what that does. 3 dialer controls will be used to tune your audio. Those are:
This controller determines how accurate the output of the audio will be. By changing this dialer, you will be able to determine whether there is any fluctuation. If you dial it up, you can hear that auto-tune type of effect coming into play which is correcting the vocals and getting it into a balanced output.
With this controller, you will be able to control how fast you will be correcting the audio that it is correcting with the depth controller. The more the sleep, the faster and more noticeable the correction will be.
Detune is used to pitch down or pitch up the audio. This tool is not used that commonly as people like to keep their tune as it is. But you can play around with it and see if you like it.
As its name suggests, this controller is used to adjust the bass of your audio. Turning it up, you will hear a lot of low end to your audio which happens when you turn the base up.
The Effects section is used to give your music a different sounding result. They can change a lot of the eq of your audio based on the effect you will be changing. The controller dialers do the following things:
With this controller, you will be able to either blend in the tuning effect or make it completely indefinite to the audio.
You can change the width of the vocal with this dialer. When you dial it up, the vocals are going to sound broader and when you dial it down to zero, it will be back at its original width. With the detune effect on, you can create a stereo effect by changing the width.
This allows you to keep the natural formant of the vocal when the pitch changes.
With this effect, you can change the qualitative feature of the vocal. Meaning, when you dial this up, you will get a more high-frequency sound or like a chipmunk sound and when you dial it down, it will create a very deep-sounding, low-frequency sound.
This section has some values you can change to emphasize and limit the sound that your audio or music will be producing. You will get the following options:
This value is used to limit your tuning to a certain point. So, let’s say you have some other vocals which are being played in the background. By changing at what decibel that background vocal is being played on. So, when you set a particular DB, the tuning won’t occur starting from that level.
Min Frequency and Max Frequency
These 2 options will allow you to narrow down the frequencies at which you want your vocals to be tuned. So when adjusting any of them, the frequency of sound that is outside the scope of these 2 options won’t be tuned to your settings.
In the scale section, we have our note values. With these options, we can choose our desired notes at which we want our audio to be in. From ‘C’ to ‘B’ notes and we can also select if we want to scale the audio in either Chromatic, Major, Minor, or Pentatonic.
So, here you can select your note at which you want to make your vocals be. And as we can see, these options are really easy to follow as they are neatly packaged and designed in a way that anyone will be able to understand what you can do here.
Below the Scale menu or section, we will see 2 bars that move around when the audio comes through. On the first bar, it indicates how much the input is and how much off the pitch it is there. And on the second one, displays how much the output is being tuned and how close it got to make it perfect.
- On the right side of the plugin, you will have some other option. Let’s see what they do.
- The first option lets you change the processing of the tuning.
- The next option is a toggle to turn on or off AGC, which is to reduce the gain that may occur because of the tuning.
- Next is a limiter toggle which lets you limit the sound which goes over 0DB
- There are some other additional options like choosing a preset or make your own preset. There are other adjustments that you can make to change the look of the software as well.
This software overall is an excellent tuner for those of you who are trying out tuning for the first time or those who have very limited needs when it comes to tuning their audio.
We hope that this guide helps you to better understand the software and how each of the functions work.
