Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit Review

Alesis is not new in producing low-cost electronic instruments. The Alesis Nitro Mesh is an ideal starting kit for both novice and advanced players. The Alesis Nitro Mesh kit seems to be an amazing package at first look. The Nitro module is included, as well as 4 tunable drum sticks, a compact kick pad, 3 cymbal pads along with a hi-hat controller pedal, and a kick pedal. A point to consider is that this is an affordable electronic set. It would not have any of the sophisticated capabilities that one can expect from any of the top-of-the-line sets or a professional kit.  The best part is that you would not spend large sums of money on the kit.

Nonetheless, the kit has its few drawbacks. We wouldn’t want to gig for it, because based on how serious you are, you’ll probably outgrow it before too long. However, it is fairly easy to breathe new life into it by merely using the pads to activate additional drum programs.

So if you are aiming for a low entry point into electronic drum kits that offers excellent performance, you should probably consider the Nitro Mesh. Nothing compares to it at this price point. Not to mention, it’s a lot of fun to play!

Drum Pads and Cymbals

Drum pads, kick pads, and several cymbal pads are among the 8 drumming components. There are three single-zone tom pads and an 8inch dual-trigger snare. They aren’t very big pads, but they still feel very comfortable to play on.

The cymbal category includes three well-known pads- a crash cymbal, a hi-hat, and a ride cymbal. The foot control you would see on the hi-hat is satisfactory. The Nitro Mesh kit may not have a hi-hat stand, but that’s to be expected with a set in this pricing.

The width of all 3 cymbals is 10-inches. All of them are supported by a four-post aluminium stack.

Theoretically, the kick tower would operate with double-bass drum pedals considering the beaters were nearby. However, the triggering may not turn out to be so attuned.

Mesh Heads

The updated heads for the snare and tom heads are among the most notable additions to the Alesis Nitro Mesh kit. Compared to cheap rubber heads, these heads have a more realistic sound.

Mesh heads are a significant improvement over standard rubber heads, but they have a more springy sound than normal drums.

These are tunable as well, so you would be able to adjust the rebound and responsiveness. This is very much a personal choice for drummers, so having the ability to customize it is fantastic. The heads are often very silent, which is ideal for training in your house without disrupting the neighbors.

Alesis Nitro Module

This kit makes use of the familiar Nitro module. If you have used the Alesis Nitro kit before, then you will know how it works.

It’s a good module. It offers convenient usage. The module makes swapping and recording drum kits a breeze. It has pre-programmed tracks that you can drum along with, but they aren’t highly noteworthy.

Since the module is MIDI compliant, you can attach it to a pc for external sample stimulation and recording. For practice and live playing, you can attach the drum kit to an amp or PA system.

The module of the Alesis Nitro is usually placed next to the hi-hat cymbal pad for efficiency. The Nitro module serves as the root of all tones and synchronization for this drum kit.

This kit module includes a plethora of various drum samples. The Nitro module includes a total of 365 tones. Acoustic drum sets and cymbals, automated kits, and FX sounds are among the many demo sounds available.

Alesis organized the sound library into 40 individual preset drum kits. Kits can be chosen by putting the controls on the Nitro module’s face to use. You can mix up samples from preset kits with other clips if you like.

The Nitro module includes 60 tracks for playing along with. There is a wide variety of backing songs available, ranging from rock and pop to Latin, fusion, jazz, and more. This is an excellent tool for both beginning and experienced drummers.

The USB port on the back panel allows for a direct interface to a device, allowing you to activate third-party drum applications such as EZ drummer using the DAW program (Digital Audio Workstation).

Almost all electronic drum kits have this feature. In terms of compatibility, the addition of classic MIDI in and out plugins helps you to attach to your preferred MIDI-connected drum kit, audio module, or other gears.

You also get a headphone jack for private lessons and for those late-night drumming hours so your neighbors won’t call the cops on you. The kit comes with stereo outputs for attaching to a PA system, amplifier, audio gateway, or external speaker.

It’s worth noting that the Alesis Nitro Mesh can be expanded through 2 input jacks on the back panel, where you can attach an extra tom and crash cymbal.

A 1/8″ stereo aux-in input for connecting to your laptop, notebook, or MP3 player rounds out the compatibility options.

Final Words

The Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit is of high quality, with markedly better mesh head textures than previous ones.

The Alesis Nitro Kit is an inexpensive drum set. It has certain characteristics that other kits in this range may lack. A dual-zone snare provides greater sensitivity and tone. Many entry-level drum kits have single-zone pads inside. Countless drummers would also appreciate the addition of a decent bass drum pad. You can easily switch the skills you’ve learned on an acoustic system to the Nitro Kit.

The Nitro Kit is durable while being adaptable and compact. It’s perfect for both starting and intermediate drummers looking for a simple and easy practice method. Overall, this package works admirably in contrast to its rivals.
